Frequently asked questions
Minimum order quantities, lead times, flute options, coatings, testing and compliance — the questions our sales engineers answer most often, written out in full so you can forward them internally.
Ordering a new pack
Start with the product weight, dimensions, stacking height and route. Everything else — flute, liner, coating — follows from those four numbers.
Proving performance
Our ISTA-certified laboratory lets you approve a pack on measured behaviour rather than on appearance. Ask for a testing proposal with your quote.
Ordering & minimums
What is your minimum order quantity?
Standard constructions start at 1,000 pieces per size. Where new printing plates and cutting dies have to be made, we usually recommend 3,000 pieces or more so that tooling is amortised across the run.
Samples and small trial batches can be arranged for approved projects.
How do I get a price?
Send us: the product and its weight, the internal or external dimensions, the stacking height on the pallet, the print requirement, the coating or barrier requirement, and the annual volume.
With that information we return a construction proposal and price within one business day.
Can you produce to my existing drawing?
Yes. We can work from your dieline, a physical sample or simply a description. Our CAD/CAM department will rebuild the structure, check that it can be produced efficiently on our lines, and return an annotated drawing for approval.
Do you charge for tooling?
Printing plates and cutting dies are quoted as a one-off tooling charge. Plates and dies remain our property but are maintained at no cost to you for the life of the project, and repeat orders carry no tooling charge.
Lead times & delivery
How long does sampling take?
White samples of a new structure take 5–7 working days. Printed samples take 7–10 working days after artwork approval.
How long is first production?
Normally 15–20 working days from the signed-off sample, depending on board grade, coating and quantity. Repeat orders are typically faster because plates and dies already exist.
Where do you deliver?
Routine delivery covers Jiangsu, Zhejiang and Shanghai. High-end cartons are supplied to 19 provinces and autonomous regions, and selected cartons are exported to Europe, Japan, Korea and Southeast Asia.
Can you store and call off stock?
For regular programmes we can hold finished stock and release it against a call-off schedule, which reduces the customer's warehouse requirement. Terms are agreed per project.
Board, printing & coatings
Which flute types can you produce?
A, B, C and E flutes and their combinations, including AA, AC and EB. Our German BHS line produces two- to ten-layer board, and the Taiwanese line extends capability to eight-layer composite board with lengths beyond four metres.
What is your printing capability?
Up to seven colours on multi-station flexo lines, with register held at ±0.5 mm. The extra-large print-slotter processes board up to 2.5 × 4.3 m in three colours, and fine text down to 5 pt remains legible.
What functional coatings do you offer?
Water repellent, full waterproofing, anti-slip, anti-static (10⁷ Ω/m² class), sulphur barrier, VCI anti-rust and high-barrier moisture constructions. Coatings are applied on a 2.8 m precision coater before lamination, which gives uniform coverage across faces, edges and creases.
Are your products recyclable?
Yes. Our coatings are water-based and do not convert the carton into a film-laminated composite, so the pack remains repulpable in standard paper recycling streams. Inks are heavy-metal free and RoHS compliant.
Quality, testing & compliance
Do you have ISO certification?
Yes — ISO 9001 for quality management and ISO 14001 for environmental management, both maintained continuously since certification.
What testing can you perform?
Our ISTA-certified test centre has more than thirty instruments for paper, board and carton testing. We run compression (BCT/ECT), drop, vibration, climatic and Cobb tests, plus silver-coupon tarnish testing for sulphur-sensitive electronics packaging.
Can you supply certificates and declarations?
Yes. Batch test data, certificates of analysis, RoHS statements, heavy-metal declarations and export packaging licences for ordinary and dangerous goods are available on request.
How do you control quality during a run?
Incoming paper is tested per reel, board is checked for burst, edge crush and flat crush per batch, print is checked against retained standards with a spectrophotometer, and finished cartons are inspected for score, glue and dimension before packing.
Technical support
Can you help design a pack for a new product?
Yes. Give us the product, its weight and fragility, and the distribution route. We will propose a structure, model it in CAD, build a prototype and test it — usually within two weeks.
Can you reduce our packaging cost?
Often. Down-gauging where strength is over-specified, right-sizing the box to the pallet, and replacing timber crating with corner-post board are the three changes that most frequently deliver savings without reducing protection.
Do you support packaging reduction targets?
Yes. We routinely re-engineer packs to remove material while holding ISTA performance, and we document the before-and-after material weight so that the reduction can be reported.
Still have a question?
Our engineers answer technical questions directly. Send the detail and we will reply within one business day.
